Oversized cold box transport in Bulgaria by Holleman

Holleman Bulgaria, member to the Cargo Equipment Experts CEE network in Bulgaria, was busy with the timely transportation of one oversized cold-box from the Port of Ruse to the final destination – the glass factory of Sisecam in Targovishte.

Holleman’s team was contracted to discharge the cold-box, having dimensiones of 35.70 x 5.40 x 3.75 m and 93 MTon weight, from a river barge, transport it to the factory and position it on elephant legs as the final job-site is still under preparation.

For the discharging two different cranes – a mobile and a floating crane were used to lift the cold box onto a waiting special trailer. Both cranes in a tandem lift completed the job in less than one hour. The truck succeeded to pass the 120 km voyage within 8 hours, starting early in the morning, trying the avoid as much as possible the traffic. A police escort and a team for dismantling of obstacles were also involved in this move.

In spite of the bridge inspection performed earlier, every bridge was closed and passed only by the loaded truck to ensure the safety of the equipment, cargo and infrastructure.

Presently Holleman is waiting for the “green light” to deliver the cold-box to its final position at the jobsite, once construction work is completed.
