When Juan Martínez began his business activities at the Port of Vigo in 1976, he did this with a clear commitment to serving companies in the region that had export needs. It was at that time that Vasco Gallega de Consignaciones was founded, a brand that became a global benchmark in the transportation of natural stone. When the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) was founded more than 27 years ago Juan immediately signed up his company as the member for Spain. This cooperation is ongoing today and also expanded into the network membership for Portugal.

Since then, the second generation, represented by Xoan Martínez, CEO and Xosé Martínez, General Director, continued to develop the business, and new companies have been established within the group. In 2013, the group was renamed KALEIDO IDEAS & LOGISTICS, focusing primarily on the logistics sector. Today the company employs more than 300 people and is active in all fields of logistics, including a special focus on industrial project movements, operates from a direct presence and investments in Spain, Portugal, Brazil, China, Angola, Mozambique, Namibia, and South Africa.

Wolfgang Karau, Director for the Worldwide Project Consortium, was invited to join the two days celebration of Kaleido Logistics 50th anniversary in Vigo last week and said: “Among the many hundreds of guests from near and far away I was honoured to be able to shake hands with Juan Martínez and his sons Xoan and Xosé, expressing congratulations on behalf of the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) and also meeting many of their team at that event.” Kaleido treated all invited guests to a sunset party in a famous beach club, a half day cruise in the Bay of Vigo on the next day, followed by a dinner party in the historical restaurant Palacio de la Oliva in Vigo.
