Khimji Ramdas Shipping delivers fully assembled oil rig equipment to Bahja region in Oman

Khimji Ramdas Shipping, member to the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) for Oman, and Multimodal Logistics (KRSML) was contracted to undertake the delivery of onshore fully assembled Oil Rigs from Jebel Ali Port to the Bahja Region of Oman.

The Multimodal Logistics wing of Khimji Ramdas Shipping optimized the transportation of oil rigs and their accessories by managing the complete logistics chain from the factory to the final destination. Mammoet, the global heavy lifting, and transport specialist deployed their equipment and specialist crew to enable the end to end logistics of these new generation fast-moving rigs which are a new addition to the current fleet of Oman’s largest drilling company – Abraj Energy Services SAOC – who are the end clients of the project.

With the largest and heaviest pieces being 38 x 14 x 11 m and 470 tons in weight and with 6 such similar packages in the same shipment moving together, the management of the sea and land transports at both ends with all necessary permissions and approvals in coordination between all major stakeholders were the principal challenges in hand. The packages were safely and satisfactorily delivered to the end destinations in south-central Oman, Bahja region.

Number of packages: 6
Total CBM of the packages: 21,700
