Large boiler river voyage in the USA

The BNSF Logistics Solutions Team, member to the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) in the USA, planned and executed the transport of one commercial Boiler. The single piece had dimensions of: 48’2” x 20’ 8” x 16’ 7” and a weight of 255,000 lbs and got moved from Houston, TX to Hawesville, KY.

The unit was loaded at origin via a 15 Line Goldhofer, transported to a barge dock and rolled onto barge, secured and tied-down in accordance with marine engineered stow plan at Greens Point, TX. The barge transport sailed to Hawesville, KY via the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers, rolled off at a public barge dock in Hawesville, KY, and got transported to the destination site on a 15 line Goldhofer. Once on-site the unit was up righted by assistance of four cranes and then set to foundation with a gantry system.

This multi-modal project was successfully completed in 40 days.
