Heavy rotor transported in Saudi Arabia

Teamlifting, member to the Cargo Equipment Experts CEE network in Saudi Arabia, carried out the replacement of a 49.9 Tons Rotor of GT 11 Generator at the Qurayyah power plant.

As seen in the photographs a 3m high structure was built to compensate the height of the rotor axis of 4.5 m above ground. Sliding beams were arranged on top of the structure for a distance of 20 m and specially prepared trolleys were used over these beams to pull out the rotor. After removal the rotor was transported to the ISCOSA (Siemens) workshop over 80 km distance for repairs using hydraulic low loader trailer. After completion repairs it was taken back and installed, using the same jacking & skidding system at the Qurayyah power plant.
