Allcargo Logistics building 1100 meters by-pass in India to move heavy transformers

Allcargo Logistics has bagged the contract from Reliance Infrastructure Limited to handle and transport 66 units of Super Over Dimension Cargo (SODC) from various ports in India to Sasan Power Limited.

Sasan Power Limited, a part of Reliance Power is commissioning a 3960 MW thermal Ultra Mega Power Plant (UMPP) in a nearby area of Sasan village which is under the Singrauli Tehsil of Sidhi district in Madhya Pradesh.

The power plant will have capacity of 3960 MW of electricity generation through six units of 660 MW.

To execute the project Allcargo Logistics has been assigned responsibilities of Transportation, Customs clearances and Port handling of various power plant machineries like Generator-Stator, De-aerator and Transformers etc. Some of the oversized cargos like Generator-Stator were as heavy as 345 Tonnes, De-aerator having lengths 43 meters and transformers of dimensions 6.2m X 6m X 5m.

For the transportation of heavy machineries over the Son River, a by-pass was fabricated, as the bridge design and structure was not meant to support such huge structures, this 1100 meters by-pass was built in a record time of 26 days and was used to make this movement possible.

With extreme precautionary steps and strategic and systematic planning undertaken by Allcargo, the logistics movement of the generator-stator and other equipment are being successfully delivered in an efficient and effective manner.

Allcargo has handled 7 of the 9 Power Projects of Reliance Group in the last six years, and is proud to be a lead innovative partner in India’s infrastructure and power growth story.
